Casual Friday About Us 

We’re millennial mid-adults trudging through our Quarter-Life Crisis: The Sequel. Jobs, kids and mortgages (or exxy rents) - you know how it goes. Professional when we need to be but that’s not the real us - we’re actually daydreaming of the good old days when responsibilities weighed firmly on the shoulders of Boomers.  

The days that feel like yesterday but are circa 2010. We conform for the sake of our bank balance, but there’s more under the surface and nostalgia runs deep – dopamine hits at music festivals, NES on the loungeroom floor, (perhaps if you have a couple of other pocket design ideas in the works, they could be called out here too?). 

And so... 

 

The Brief:  

Find a tee worthy of Friday office vibes that says something about who we really are (but not too much) and maintains the semi-professional front we work hard to sustain Monday through Thursday. 

It's gotta be easy to wear and premium quality – something that upstages an $8 basic from K-Mart. A low-key antidote to the daily grind. 
 

The Journey:  

Chadstone, Thursday night. My partner and I ventured into one of those luxury fashion stores - you know the ones... short queues designated by velvet ropes, beefy security guards in black suits and clickers to count sheep on entry (I mean, come on). 

Knowing full well we couldn't afford anything in-store, our window shopping only cost us judgmental eye rolls. A price we could afford! 

On the hunt for a piece that says Friday Business Casual, I picked up a basic white tee with a 4-inch black pocket logo print—flipped the price tag... $500 (yeah, nah).  

Who knew finding a premium basic t-shirt with a bit of personality was so damn hard? Well, it’s not with Casual Friday Apparel.

We've opted for all cotton, super comfy and modern cuts. Comfort is key here...if we have to go back into the office on Fridays, we may as well feel comfy as fuck!

We like pocket print designs – perfect for making a statement about who you are on Casual Friday (but quietly). Versatile premium basics that you can throw on, dress up and layer easily.  

Find your crowd when someone enters your personal space or get judged at an intimate level. Case in point: This one time, I grabbed a coffee from my local barista while wearing a test run for this anime/borderline hentai design – they took one look at my tee pocket, smiled and gave me a nod. From that moment, I knew he was a degenerate weeb too. No judgement here - I’d encountered a comrade of culture.
